ED summons ex-cricketer Yuvraj Singh, Robin Uthappa and actor Sonu Sood in betting app PMLA case

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned former cricketers Robin Uthappa and Yuvraj Singh and actor Sonu Sood. ED has called all three of them in their Delhi office for questioning in an alleged illegal online betting app linked to a money laundering case, officials said Tuesday.

Robin Uthappa (39), Yuvraj Singh (43) and Sonu Sood (52) have been asked to depose during the next week and get their statements recorded under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), reported PTI.

Former cricketer Robin Uthappa has been summoned for questioning on September 22 in an alleged illegal online betting app, while Yuvraj Singh has been asked to appear before the ED on September 23, followed by Sonu Sood on September 24.

As reported by news agency PTI, the investigation agency ED earlier also questioned former cricketers Suresh Raina and Shikhar Dhawan over the last few weeks as part of this investigation.

However, Robin Uthappa and Yuvraj Singh are the third and fourth former Indian cricketers to be summoned in this case in Delhi till now. The federal probe agency has questioned former cricketers Suresh Raina and Shikhar Dhawan over the last few weeks.

Moreover, the Enforcement Directorate also recorded the statement of former TMC MP and actor Mimi Chakraborty and Bollywood star Urvashi Rautela in this case on Monday. Both actresses appeared before the ED and recorded their statements.

Taking the investigations to the next level, ED now looks for the answers which can get them to the money trail that they have been looking for in the famous betting app scam case.

While the probe pertains to alleged illegal betting apps that are stated to have duped numerous people and investors of worth crores of rupees or have evaded a huge amount of taxes.

As reported by news agency PTI, 1xBet is a globally recognised bookmaker with 18 years in the betting industry.

The brand's customers can place bets on thousands of sporting events, with the company's website and app available in 70 languages, according to the company.
