<a href="https://www.mid-day.com/business/business-news/article/alpha-wave-global-sells-entire-stake-in-aye-finance-via-rs-322crore-block-deal-23647157" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Global alternative asset firm Alpha Wave Global </a>on Friday divested a 1.7 per cent stake in eyewear retailer Lenskart Solutions for Rs 1,856 crore through open market transactions.
New York-based Alpha Wave Global, through its three affiliates, offloaded a total of 2,94,72,670 shares, representing a 1.69 per cent stake in Gurugram-based Lenskart, as per the block deal data on the National Stock Exchange (NSE).
The shares were sold at an average price of Rs 630 apiece, taking the combined transaction value to Rs 1,856.78 crore.
At the end of the June quarter, Alpha Wave Global, through its affiliates, owned a combined 4.64 per cent equity stake in Lenskart.
On the other side of the trade were a mix of domestic and foreign institutional investors who picked up shares at the same price.
<a href="https://www.mid-day.com/business/business-news/article/what-are-mutual-funds-a-simple-guide-to-these-investment-products-23644253" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Mutual Funds </a>managed by ICICI Prudential, SBI, WhiteOak Capital, Edelweiss, Kotak Mahindra, Motilal Oswal, Nippon India, and National Pension System (NPS) Trust bought shares of Lenskart.
Among insurers, HDFC Standard Life Insurance, ICICI Prudential Life Insurance and Bajaj Life Insurance also participated in the transaction.
Other buyers included JP Morgan Chase entity Copthall Mauritius, Goldman Sachs, Millennium Management, through its arm Integrated Core Strategies (Asia); Morgan Stanley, Societe Generale, Viridian Asset Management, BofA Securities, Ghisallo Capital Management, Susquehanna International Group, and Kuwait Investment Authority.
Lenskart Solutions' shares fell nearly 1 per cent to close at Rs 636.10 apiece on the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/business/business-news/article/ahead-of-ipo-nse-settles-rs-1491crore-colocation-case-pays-rs-71474-crore-to-sebi-23642676" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">NSE</a>.
On Monday, technology investor SoftBank ​Group sold a 2.6 per cent stake in Lenskart for Rs 2,888 crore.
