With Diwali just around the corner, gold prices across India have been soaring high. The price of 10 grams of gold on Tuesday, October 14, has been recorded at Rs 125,437 for 10 grams in Mumbai. The surge in gold prices is driven by a combination of strong international cues, festive buying ahead of Dhanteras and Diwali, and a weaker rupee that has increased the cost of gold imports.
As per the market reports, 24-carat gold prices in the last few days have already touched fresh highs across key metro cities such as Kolkata, Delhi, and Mumbai, reflecting the growing investor and consumer demand for the precious metal.

News agency PTI further reported that gold and silver prices on Tuesday scaled fresh record highs in the domestic futures trade, mirroring lifetime gains in the international markets as renewed US-China trade tensions and prospects of rate cuts by the US Federal Reserve bolstered safe-haven demand.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), gold futures for December delivery climbed Rs 2,301, or 1.84 per cent, to hit a new peak of Rs 126,930 per 10 grams. The February 2026 contract for gold also surged Rs 2,450, or 1.94 per cent, to touch a record of Rs 128,220 per 10 grams.
Manav Modi, who works as an analyst at Motilal Oswal, said that "gold prices climbed to a record high as renewed US-China trade tensions exacerbated broader uncertainty, bolstering safe-haven demand, while the prospects of interest rate cuts by the Federal Reserve lent support, with silver also reaching an all-time peak," as cited by news agency PTI.
