Sensex, Nifty open lower as rising crude oil prices and West Asia conflict escalates

Indian stock markets opened sharply lower on Thursday as escalating West Asia tensions and surging crude oil prices dented investor sentiment. Sensex fell over 450 points, while Nifty slipped more than 100 points, with IT stocks leading the decline and pharma bucking the trend

Amid the concerning situation in West Asia and rising crude oil prices, the domestic equity benchmarks in Indian stock markets opened in the red on Thursday during the morning session.
The Sensex on Thursday declined over 450 points, or 0.62 per cent, to touch an intraday low of 73,518 in early trade. Similarly, Nifty slipped more than 100 points or 0.61 per cent to an intraday low of 23,072.
