At the 2026 Met Gala, Isha Ambani once again turned the global spotlight toward Indian craftsmanship, blending heritage, art, and personal storytelling into a striking red carpet appearance. Embracing the theme “Fashion Is Art,” she chose a custom creation by Gaurav Gupta, a sculptural saree that reimagined traditional draping through a contemporary, artistic lens.

The saree itself was far from conventional. Woven using pure gold threads, the ensemble featured intricate hand painted motifs inspired by Pichwai art, rendered in muted earthy tones. The design merged fluid drapes with structured, sculptural elements, transforming the garment into what many described as a wearable piece of art. Crafted over more than 1,200 hours by dozens of artisans, the look underscored the scale and precision of Indian textile craftsmanship on an international stage.
