The Delhi High Court on Wednesday issued notice in a civil suit filed by Bollywood actor Karisma Kapoor's two children, who are seeking a share in the Rs 30,000 crore estate of their late father, industrialist Sunjay Kapur. While the executor denied their claim in property share, court issued a notice to Priya Kapur to disclose Sunjay’s assets.
Delhi HC directs Priya Kapur to reveal assets
Today’s hearing saw Justice Jyoti Singh question Priya Kapur directly on why the will had not been shared with the children, ordering her to declare all movable and immovable assets belonging to Sunjay as of June 12, 2025. Adding to the suspicion, the court heard that Rani Kapur, Sunjay’s mother, sent more than 15 unanswered emails to Priya seeking clarity on the will.
Priya Kapur’s counsel told the Court that the children had already received Rs 1,900cr. However, sources say that the control of these assets remain with Priya Kapur in the Rani Kapur family trust and that the children have no access to this. Against this backdrop, adding to the doubts, the Court was also informed by counsel for Mrs. Priya Sachdev Kapur that the so-called will is not registered.

The will, dated just 11 weeks before Sunjay’s sudden demise, allegedly leaves his entire personal estate to his third wife, Priya Kapur, cutting out his children. The plaintiffs argue that they shared a close and active relationship with their father, with frequent travel, family time, and business involvement until his passing. To intensify questions of timing, Priya assumed the role of Managing Director of his company only a day after his funeral.
As per reports, the children have still not been given a copy of the will, nor any clarity on their father’s personal assets. These developments are raising urgent questions of transparency, fairness, and the rights of children in inheritance disputes; issues that resonate far beyond one family.
Rani Kapur on ongoing dispute
Amid the ongoing dispute over late industrialist Sunjay Kapur's Rs 30,000 crore estate, Rani Kapur's lawyer said that the "real fight" is actually between the former spouses, Karisma Kapoor and Priya Sachdeva Kapoor, of the late industrialist.
"This fight is really more between Karisma Kapoor and Priya Sachdeva - whether there is a will or there is no will etc. Rani Kapur does get impacted by it but she will file a response and you will know her stand," Senior Advocate Vaibhav Gaggar, representing late Sunjay Kapur's mother Rani Kapur told ANI.
Karisma and Sunjay married in 2003 but divorced in 2016. Sunjay passed away on June 12 during a polo match in London, when he suffered a heart attack after reportedly swallowing a bee.
