Veteran actors Supriya and Sachin Pilgaonkar are beaming with pride as their daughter Shriya Pilgaonkar’s recent series on ZEE5, The Broken News S2 has been receiving appreciation from viewers and critics. In the recently released second season, Shriya reprised her role as Radha Bhargava from Awaaz Bharti news channel who was tagged as anti-nationalist and put in jail. This second installment of the series delves deeper into the fierce rivalry between two news channels, Josh 24x7 and Awaz Bharti, transforming it from a mere newsroom battle to a personal struggle for survival. It confronts the repercussions of prioritizing sensationalism over truth in the realm of broadcast journalism, offering viewers a gripping narrative that challenges their perceptions. Shriya’s character has a lot to showcase in S2 as she is out of jail with a vengeance and wants to take revenge.

Appreciating Shriya’s work in the series, her mother, Supriya Pilgaonkar shared, “I am so delighted to see Shriya performing so well, standing tall with her amazing costars Sonali and Jaideep in The Broken News. Each one of them has helped her grow. She knows that I am her biggest cheerleader and her biggest critic, and it gives me immense pride to see the way she conducts herself on and off screen. She has all our blessings, and this is only the beginning for her and I’m sure there are many more exciting opportunities that await her.”

Sharing his wish to work with Shriya again, Sachin Pilgaonkar said, “I am a genuine fan of Shriya’s versatility and I say this not as her father but as an actor and filmmaker myself who has been working for 60 years. She has carved her own niche for herself in the film industry, and it makes Supriya and I so proud when people come up to us with compliments for Shriya. Each character played by her has left a mark and she is always hungry to learn. I really enjoyed the unpredictable graph of her character Radha in The Broken News 2. I had directed Shriya in her first Marathi film ‘Ekulti Ek‘ 10 years ago and I am looking forward to working with her on something exciting whenever the opportunity presents itself. She is a genuinely loving person who always leaves a lasting impression.”

Garnering much appreciation from the viewers for its thought-provoking storyline and the character portrayals by the actors Shriya Pilgaonkar, Jaideep Ahlawat and Sonali Bendre, The Broken News Season 2 is a compelling and enlightening watch for those seeking a thrilling exploration of the power and responsibility of journalism.
