He might be a commerce graduate, but it isn't often that he gets to put his learning into practice. So when actor Sammir Dattani was offered the role of an investment banker in his upcoming film, he was thrilled to take up the challenge. Getting a smart 'corporate look' was just the beginning. He also started frequenting his dad's office, much to the satisfaction of the latter. Sammir talks to CS about how he got into his character's shoes:



At work
When you think of an investment banker, the first thought that comes to your head is that he must be a serious guy. But my character isn't like thatu00a0-- I'm someone who would appeal to the girls and their parents. Coming from an industrialist family, slipping into the shoes of the character wasn't too difficult. My dad was happy to have me in office.

Formal arrangement
My character needed me to dress in formals, so that was a change that I had to incorporate in my life 'style'. While formerly I wouldn't think twice before stepping into dad's office in jeans and chappals, this time things were different.

I went shopping for formals and now my wardrobe is well-stocked with office wear. I became conscious of my clothes and started dressing formally, just like my cousins.

We are family
I've always admired my cousins for being these smart, young, dynamic men who absolutely look the part of successful businessmen. I found myself following in their footsteps, at least onscreen. Even though acting is my first love, I've always been a part of my family business in a small way. I do give it a little of my time and attention, but thanks to the role, I ended up spending a good chunk of time in office. I'm blessed with a ready-made business set-up so it would be foolish to turn away from it.
