Abhishek Bachchan was excited about working in JP Dutta's Paltan, because the filmmaker launched him in Bollywood with Refugee (2000). But he walked out of the project at the last moment. A source says that Bachchan Jr left the film when he realised that Sonu Sood had more screen space than him. When he discussed his apprehensions with Dutta, he was told that while Sood has more screen time, Bachchan had a better-written character. But Dutta failed to convince the actor.
