As Nitesh Tiwari and Namit Malhotra's Ramayana released its first glimpse featuring Ranbir Kapoor and Yash today, Adipurush makers released a song from the 2023 flop film on the same day, making netizens wonder if they were trying to milk out of the situation
Adipurush and Ramayana
Amid much anticipation, the first glimpse of Nitesh Tiwari and Namit Malhotra's Ramayana was released today. The three-minute-long first glimpse featuring Yash and Ranbir Kapoor has impressed the audience with its VFX and intrigued the audience. Meanwhile, while everyone was talking about the epic magnum opus, Adipurush makers' T-series silently released the song Jai Shri Ram from the 2023 film on YouTube. But did not go unnoticed, and netizens shared their reactions on the uncanny timing.
T-Series releases Jai Shree Ram from Adipurush
Soon after Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana released its first-look, the team of Prabhas’ 2023 film Adipurush dropped an 8K video clip of the Jai Shri Ram track. For the unversed, directed by Om Raut, Adipurush bombed at the box office. It was a huge box office disaster and was criticised due to poor VFX and dialogues such as “Bua ka bagicha hain kya?", “Marega bete", and others.

The timing of Jai Shri Ram's release has convinced the internet to believe that the makers of Prabhas’ Adipurush are trying their best to cash in on the popularity of Ranbir Kapoor and Yash-starrer Ramayana. The song, Jai Shri Ram, was already a part of the film when it was released back in 2023. However, the makers chose the same day as the Ramayana first glimpse launch to release the 8K version of the song. Whether the release was purely a coincidence or a strategic move remains debatable.
Internet reacts
Produced by Bhushan Kumar of T-Series, the news of Jai Shri Ram song releasing in 8K on the Ramayana release day is being widely discussed online. One Reddit user noted, “I got to give it to Bhushan for milking every opportunity to get some money back on his investment in Adipurush,' while another wrote, “This preposterous thing is not even worthy being called a movie!!!" (sic)
Continuing the criticism for Adipurush, a third user wrote, “The dialogues, vfx, background and looks of actors, these things boil my blood till date," penned a third user. Another user said, “#Ramayana is what Om Raut thought Adipurush will look like."
Ramayana is helmed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios and the 8-time Oscar-winning VFX studio DNEG, in association with Yash’s Monster Mind Creations. The film will be released worldwide in two parts. Part 1 in Diwali 2026 and Part 2 in Diwali 2027.
