Anand Ramanand Sagar Chopra, son of legendary Ramanand Sagar, died at the age of 84. He reportedly breathed his last in Mumbai on February 13, 2026. According to reports, Anand had been unwell for more than a decade and was suffering from Parkinson's disease. The family shared the news via an official statement and also revealed that funeral was held at 4:30 PM on Friday at Hindu Smashan Bhumi (Pavan Hans), Mumbai.

Family members shared the news of the demise via a statement which read, "It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our dear father Anand Ramanand Sagar Chopra." Sharing that the last rites were performed, they wrote, "The last rites will take place on Friday, February 13, 2026, at 4:30 PM, at Hindu Smashan Bhumi (Pavan Hans)."
"Your prayers and blessings for his peaceful journey are sincerely appreciated. Sagar family," the statement further eead.
Family, friends and the members of the film fraternity came together to pay their last respects to Anand Ramanand Sagar Chopra. Maine Pyaar Kiya actress Bhagyashree was spotted by the paparazzi as she arrived for the last rites in Juhu. No one big names were spotted at the hush-hush funeral.

Anand Ramanand Sagar Chopra was the son of legendary Ramanand Sagar, creator of the original 1987 TV series Ramayan. Anand Sagar was part of the second generation handling the legendary production company, Sagar Films.
Anand Sagar made significant contributions to mythological productions such as the 2008 Ramayan. It was a continuation of his father's noteworthy body of work that revolutionised viewership for Indian television back in the 1980s. Apart from filmmaking, he was also involved in the production of films, like Ankhen, Armaan and Alif Laila.
Anand Sagar is survived by his wife, Nisha Sagar and his children.
Ramanand Sagar was married to Leelavati Sagar and had five children, namely sons Subhash Sagar, Moti Sagar, Prem Sagar, and Anand Sagar, and a daughter Sarita Sagar. Ramanand Sagar started his career in the 1940s as a writer, contributing to successful films such as Barsaat. He then moved to direction by helming acclaimed films like Charas (1976) and Prem Bandhan (1979).
