Anurag Kashyap gets 'angry' when people praise films years later amid Main Vaapas Aunga, Bandar's slow run

After complaining of limited screens for Indian films amid Obsession's success, Anurag Kashyap has now reacted to people praising his films years after their release. The filmmaker added that people don't watch his films in theatres and later end up liking the film later

Filmmaker and actor Anurag Kashyap recently took to Instagram to raise his concern with Indian films like Imtiaz Ali’s Main Vaapas Aaunga and his own Bandar, which released recently, getting fewer theatrical screens. The filmmaker complained that, on the contrary, Hollywood films like Obsession continue to enjoy better showcasing. Not only Anurag, but social media has also been abuzz with fans expressing their frustration over Anurag and Imtiaz’s works being neglected at the time of their release, but going on to gain cult status years down the line.

Anurag Kashyap on audience not watching films in theatres

Talking to Hindustan Times, Anurag responded to how it feels to have fans come up to him years later and praise his films. He shared, “I get angry, upset because people keep coming to me and talking about how they love this film and that film. I often ask them, 'Where did you see it?' and nobody has actually seen it in theatres. I'm quite used to it.”
