Badhaai Do set becomes latest to abide by actor's zero-plastic and zero-waste policy, as Bhumi Pednekar sets an example while furthering environmental causes

Among the few actors leading from the front instead of merely doing lip service, Bhumi Pednekar is leaving no stone unturned to further the cause of environmental issues. After ensuring that a no-plastic policy was implemented on the sets of her previous films, the actor, who is currently shooting for Badhaai Do in Mussoorie, put into action a zero-waste and zero-plastic policy.
Pednekar, an active climate warrior, is grateful that the unit was happy to follow her cues. “The support that my fraternity gave my environment-driven campaigns has been worthy of applause. There is a change in people’s mindsets, even within the fraternity. While shooting my last three films, the unit did not use single-use plastic and employed steel water bottles instead. These are productive steps, because the kind of garbage that is produced on a film-set is sizable. This is a conversation I like to have with most of my teams.”

Apart from curtailing single-use plastic, Pednekar has also been encouraging her team to minimise the wastage of food, and directing excess food to those in need. “While filming Durgamati, the excess food was distributed in a hygienic way to people who are less fortunate. There were extra meals cooked on set that we could distribute.”
