The siren made headlines when she sang for the Gujarat chief minister, Narendra Modi on his 64th birthday. While we are unsure of whether Ms Sherawat was trying to do a Marilyn Monroe (the Hollywood diva had crooned Happy Birthday for the dashing JFK, you see), this was one line that did not get a retort from NaMo or his followers. Modi ignored Mallika’s good wishes much like a mighty emperor shunning the charms of an ageingshehzadi.
