Salman Khan-starrer, 'Kick', that released last Friday, has collected Rs 80 crore, making it the second highest pre-Eid opening at the box office.

It may be pointed out that Salman Khan's other film, 'Ek Tha Tiger', holds the distinction of posting the highest collection; it raked in Rs 100 crore after its pre-Eid opening in 2012.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh says, "'Ek Tha Tiger' had an edge; it had opened on August 15 which was a public holiday. 'Kick', on the other hand, released on a regular Friday." Interestingly, the Salman's last film, 'Jai Ho', that released in January this year, had collected only around Rs 60 crore in its first weekend.
Trade analyst Amod Mehra says 'Kick' has busted the myth that films don't do good business during Ramzaan. "Now with Eid on Tuesday and baasi Eid on Wednesday, the film is on its way to set new records," he says.

Despite mixed reactions, the film has received a good response. Distributor Rajesh Thadani says, "The film had the potential of making between Rs 250 crore to Rs 300 crore, but thanks to the mixed reactions, I can now see it touching Rs 200 crore. The film has a clear two-week run and this will work in its favour."
