Two sequels, two superstars, this Independence Day will see two big films clash at the box office. With 'Gadar 2' and 'OMG 2' set to release on August 11, Sunny Deol and Akshay Kumar are set to face each other at the box office.

The advance bookings for both the film was started almost two weeks before its release. Going from the advance bookings, it seems like 'Gadar 2', driving high on nostalgia, will have a massive opening day.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared that over 76000 tickets have been sold out for 'Gadar 2' as on Monday, August 7

"#Gadar2 advance booking status at *national chains*… Note: DAY 1 biz…
 #PVR: 33,000
 #INOX: 25,500
 #Cinepolis: 18,100
 Total: 76,600 tickets sold

Advance bookings is extraordinary in mass circuits and single screen properties… All set for a massive Day 1," he tweeted on Monday night.

With amazing performances and powerful dialogues, and the iconic hand pump, the three-minute-long trailer of 'Gadar 2',  showcases Tara Singh and Sakeena's legacy, set amidst the tumultuous Crush India Movement of 1971 and Tara Singh going all the way to Pakistan to save his kid, Charan Jeet Singh (played by Utkrash Sharma) from the Pakistani Army.

Helmed by Anil Sharma, the film stars Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma in the lead roles. Before releasing the official teaser online, the makers of the film attached the teaser with 'Gadar: Ek Prem Katha' which was re-released in the theatres on June 9. Director Anil Sharma said, "We are excited about bringing back a story that epitomizes patriotism, intense action, a heartwarming father-son bond, and a love story that transcends all boundaries.

On the other hand, the trailer release of Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam-starrer 'OMG 2' was delayed because of the censor certificate controversy. The Censor board took time in granting the film a certificate owing to the sensitive nature of the plot of the film. Eventually, the film was granted A certificated with as many as 20 cuts and modifications demanded by the board. Akshay Kumar's character of Lord Shiva was changed to messenger of God. The film, which was set in Ujjain, was changed to show that it was set in a fictional town.
