Bollywood beauty Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, a regular at Cannes Film Festival, turned up in an ethnic ensemble for its 78th edition. The former Miss World opted for a white and golden saree by Manish Malhotra and accessorised it with a diamond and ruby necklace. However, the standout accessory was the long vermilion streak on her forehead, aka sindoor, which netizens suggested meant to quash those divorce rumours with Abhishek Bachchan.

Aishwarya Rai's history with Cannes

Aishwarya made her Cannes debut in 2002 with superstar Shah Rukh Khan and director Sanjay Leela Bhansali for the premiere of their film 'Devdas'. Decked in a yellow saree, her iconic entrance in a chariot is remembered fondly by fans even today. After making her debut, she became the first Indian actress to be part of the Cannes jury, and ever since then, the actress has been attending the film festival.

Over the years, she served memorable iconic red carpet moments, making her an undisputed 'Cannes queen'. In 2003, as a Cannes jury member, Aishwarya showed up in different Indian outfits of various styles from a green saree with a heavily embroidered blouse to a yellow suit.

In 2007 and 2008, she walked the red carpet with her husband, Abhishek Bachchan. She has also experimented with different looks during her red-carpet appearances. Remember her purple lipstick? In 2016, she stunned fashionistas with the bold colour. Her lip colour got people talking.

Aishwarya and Abhishek’s relationship

Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan got married on April 20, 2007, in an intimate wedding ceremony at one of Amitabh Bachchan's bungalows- Prateeksha. The duo has shared screen space in movies like 'Guru', 'Dhoom 2', and more. They welcomed their first child, a daughter named Aaradhya, on November 16, 2011.

Reports of possible tension in their marriage have been circulating for some time. Abhishek's alleged closeness to his Dasvi co-star, Nimrat Kaur, along with complex family dynamics involving Shweta and Jaya Bachchan, are said to be contributing factors to the rumoured troubles. In July 2024, the Taal actress attended Anant Ambani’s wedding solo with her daughter Aaradhya, while the Bachchan family was present in full force.

Aishwarya's work front

Aishwarya was last seen in Mani Ratnam's 'Ponniyin Selvan: Part 2', for which she won the Best Actress in a Leading Role (Critics) award at the South Indian International Movie Awards (SIIMA) in Dubai.
