Nearly three months after mid-day reported the Central Board of Film Certification’s (CBFC) directive to submit only final cuts of movies for certification (No change after certification, Aug 19), the body has issued new guidelines for filmmakers. While the board has reiterated that films must be submitted in their complete, final version, it has adopted a new stand on movie titles. According to the latest advisory, pre-announced titles cannot be treated as final only because they have been submitted for certification.

A source said, “Now, titles will remain subject to scrutiny, review, and possible modification by the Examining or Revising Committee.”
