Vaani Kapoor has been receiving praise from former co-stars like Hrithik Roshan as well as fans for breaking stereotypes and playing a trans woman in her latest release Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui, opposite Ayushmann Khurrana.

Reacting to the same, Vaani told mid-day.com, “I have to thank Abhishek Kapoor (director) for coming to me because it would not have been possible otherwise. You can be talented sitting at home thinking what a wonderful actor you could be, but when the right roles don’t come to you, what can you do? You need the right person to steer you in the right direction to empower you as an artiste! That happened and it just blew my mind when I heard it for the first time, I had no doubts in my head. I came with full conviction, the way he told me how he’s treating the film and Maanvi (Vaani's character). The world he was setting up was so impressive and different, refreshing as to whatever we have seen till date. We’ve never been educated in school, these conversations have never taken place even in metropolitan cities, in your families.”
