In 1999, director Eduardo Sánchez and producer Gregg Hale showed us the horrors that lurk in the dark woods with The Blair Witch Project (1999). In 2026, according to them, fear rests in a far more unsuspecting place ­­— social media. Their latest found-footage horror thriller, The Influencer Project, sees content creator Chiara King play a fictionalised version of herself, who receives death threats from a stalker as she travels to Copenhagen for a campaign.  

For King, it’s surreal to star in a movie executive produced by The Blair Witch Project makers. “I loved The Blair Witch Project. It scared me so much. Working on this was a dream come true as Ed and Gregg shared their insights into creating fear through realism,” she told mid-day.
