Ajay Devgn, R. Madhavan and Rakul Preet Singh’s latest rom-com has kicked off with an impressive 9.45 crore on Day 1 in India. What makes this opening truly stand out is that these figures come with no holiday and no ticket offers. The film has pulled in audiences purely on the strength of its content and strong word of mouth.

The humour, emotional beats and the much-talked-about performances of the lead cast have clearly clicked with viewers, resulting in a steady rise in footfalls through the day.

With positive audience sentiment and an upward trend since Friday evening, Saturday numbers are likely to show a healthy jump.

De De Pyaar De 2 is directed by Anshul Sharma, produced by T-Series’ Bhushan Kumar & Krishan Kumar, and Luv Films’ Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg.

About De De Pyaar De 2

The film is the sequel to 2019 comedy De De Pyaar De, and stars Ajay Devgn as Ashish Mehra and Rakul Preet Singh as Ayesha Khurana, continuing their age-gap romance from the original.

The sequel picks up the story, following Ashish and Ayesha as they navigate love, laughter, and drama. The story sees Ayesha introduce Ashish to her parents, played by Gautami Kapoor and R. Madhavan. Ashish tries to win over Ayesha’s family while navigating the awkward and funny situations spawned by the significant age difference and family dynamics.

Meezaan Jaaferi on joining the cast

Meezaan Jaaferi plays the role of Rakul Preet Singh's childhood friend. In the film, he not only shakes a leg with his father, Javed Jaaferi, in the song 3 Shaukk but also recreates Ajay Devgn's iconic pose of balancing on two motorcycles from the film Phool aur Kaante.

Speaking about his experience on set, he said, "I was the youngest on set, and they all came to my support. Even when I was doing the split on that car, Ajay Sir came and helped me with my harness."

Talking about recreating the actor’s iconic pose from Phool Aur Kaante, Meezaan added, "To be honest, I was very nervous. It’s an iconic pose that belongs to Ajay Sir. I was just grateful that they gave me the opportunity to do something like that in the film. At the end of the day, the credit goes to the makers for writing such a scene and letting me do it. I tried to do it as much as I could. Sir (Ajay Devgn) actually helped me a lot in the scene. I hope people like it. It is actually an impactful entry scene.”

The audience has definitely felt the impact of the scene as the film has recorded a staggering 9.45 crore on its opening day.
