He added that filmmakers have forgotten to make "mainstream films of social relevance" nowadays. "The film captures the conversation that we avoid on a day-to-day basis. This is what mainstream cinema was meant to be, and this is what great filmmakers like Raj Kapoor, Bimal Roy, Guru Dutt, K A Abbas, B R Chopra, Yash Chopra, and so many used to do. We forgot to make mainstream films of social relevance. They got relegated to independent art house cinema. This is what Tamizh cinema and so much of cinema from south still does," Anurag continued.

About Dhadak 2

Directed by Shazia Iqbal, the film is a sequel of 2018 film Dhadak starring Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter. It was a remake of Marathi film Sairat and was appreciated by the audience. Talking about Dhadak 2, it is also a remake of Tamil film, Pariyerum Perumal. Talking about film’s first day box office collection, Dhadak 2 earned Rs 3.35 crore nett, as per reports. It released alongside Ajay Devgn and Mrunal Thakur starrer Son Of Sardaar 2.

The film revolves around Neelesh (Siddhant) a boy from lower caste residing at Bhim Nagar, who falls in love with Triptii, his classmate, who belongs to an upper caste family. What follows isnt a love story, but a brutal commentary on social oppression.
