Aditya Dhar’s directorial Dhurandhar: The Revenge became one of the biggest releases of the year. Owing to the success of Dhurandhar in December, its sequel became one of the most anticipated films. The film was officially released in theatres worldwide on March 19, with select preview screenings on the evening of March 18. However, screenings of the film in Montreal, Canada, were disrupted after incidents of sabotage were reported in two cinema halls.

According to viral reports on social media, miscreants were seen slashing the theatre screen mid-show, causing interruptions during screenings of Dhurandhar 2. Videos from inside the theatres have since gone viral, showing large tears across the screen as the film played. One clip showed an intermission announcement, while another showed a police officer standing by inside the auditorium.

The real cause behind the alleged violent act inside the theatre is still unknown. There has been no official statement on the matter so far.

Indian films screened in Canada have faced similar disruptions over the years. In October 2025, a theatre in Ontario halted screenings of Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1 and They Call Him OG after separate incidents of arson and gunfire.

Dhurandhar 2 box office

Ranveer Singh’s much-awaited espionage drama Dhurandhar 2 has created a storm at the box office. The film opened to massive numbers, crossing the Rs 100 crore mark on its very first day. Roadblocks like show delays and cancellations failed to slow its momentum.

As per trade trackers, the Aditya Dhar directorial minted Rs 102.55 crore on opening day, with the Hindi version contributing a lion’s share of Rs 99.10 crore. Interestingly, the first instalment, Dhurandhar, the all-time highest Hindi grosser, had opened at Rs 27 crore in December 2025 — meaning the sequel earned nearly four times more on day one.

The Kannada and Malayalam versions, which could not hold paid previews due to technical issues and non-availability of content, collected Rs 0.8 crore and Rs 0.9 crore respectively. The Tamil version earned Rs 1.16 crore from 958 shows in India, while the Telugu version collected Rs 2.12 crore.

Ahead of its March 19 release, the Ranveer Singh-starrer held paid previews across Indian cities on March 18, earning Rs 43 crore from 12,735 shows despite cancellations.
