An entire film on a big orgy party gets the Censor Board's stamp of approval, after they recently stalled the India release of David Fincher's 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo'. Is the board taking a different stance for different parties? If David Fincher's much- acclaimed The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was refused a release in India, courtesy the Censor Board that demanded some major sequences be cut, one would imagine, a film titled A Good Old Fashioned Orgy would hardly stand a chance. But surprise, surprise! <img alt="" src="/imagedata/2012/feb/good-old.jpg" border="5" /> A Good Old Fashioned Orgy The independent Hollywoodu00a0 film about a bunch of 30-somethings throwing a big 'orgy' party was passed with just two minor cuts. Says distributor Manish Dutt, "We were just required to cut two scenes one was a topless shot and the other which shows a boy indulging in sodomy at a night club. Apart from that the entire film has been retained as is with an 'A' certificate of course." Recently there was widespread disappointment whenu00a0 Fincher's flick was denied a release in India without the necessary cuts. Looks like in this case, the Censor Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has taken a more linear stance. CBFC official JP Singh says, "As far as TGWDT is concerned the examining committee asked that certain nude scenes in the film be blurred, which they refused to. In A Good Old Fashioned Orgy, we demanded two cuts and we thought it wasn't necessary to censor anything beyond it." <img alt="" src="/imagedata/2012/feb/girldragon.jpg" border="5" /> The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo Naturally, Dutt is surprised. He points out, "The film has some very provocative scenes including ones which display sex toys. The Indian audiences are used to more non-graphic depictions and that's why I was surprised that we were allowed to retain most of those scenes." Did you know? The film has travelled to numerous film festivals and saw a limited release in USA and other countries last year.
