On February 14, when the whole world was celebrating Valentine’s Day, Alia Bhatt shared an Instagram story where she could be seen with her phone and what drew attention was her ring that had the ‘8’ number embedded in it.
For the uninitiated, that happens to be lucky number of her beau Ranbir Kapoor. If you remember, in her Instagram chat with her fans recently, when asked about the same number, she showed a heart with her hands. One of her fan-clubs shared the post.

Recently, Bhatt winged her way to New Delhi to spend time with beau Ranbir Kapoor. He has been shooting for Luv Ranjan’s untitled next, co-starring Shraddha Kapoor, in the capital. As soon as Bhatt wrapped up the schedule of Gangubai Kathiawadi, she caught the next available flight. She gels well with Kapoor’s Delhi-based sister Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, so it will be some famjam time as well.
The actress is collaborating with Ranbir Kapoor for the first time in Ayan Mukerji's Brahmastra, which also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna, Dimple Kapadia, and Mouni Roy. This film was earlier titled Dragon and was slated to release on Christmas 2016. However, due to the massively mounted scale, the makers needed more time to shape and enhance it.
It was then announced that the drama would come out on Independence Day 2019 and then December 4, 2020, but owing to the lockdown, it seems the release has to wait a little longer. Bhatt completes nine years in Bollywood this year. She made her debut with Karan Johar's Student of The Year in 2012 and managed to strike an impression with her performance in her second film, the Imtiaz Ali directorial, Highway. Success happened in the form of films like 2 States, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, Kapoor & Sons, Udta Punjab, Dear Zindagi, Badrinath Ki Dulhania, Raazi, and Gully Boy.
She has one of the most promising line-up of films among her contemporaries. The first one is Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Gangubai Kathiawadi, this was supposed to arrive on September 11 but has been postponed.
Also in the line-up is SS Rajamouli's RRR, which is slated to release on October 13, 2021, and Karan Johar's Takht, which will arrive on December 24, 2021. This period drama also has Anil Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranveer Singh, Bhumi Pednekar, Vicky Kaushal, and Janhvi Kapoor.
That’s not all, she’s also starring in Shah Rukh Khan’s next home production, Darlings.
The makers plan to release the film later this year, it was revealed on Monday. An official announcement on the project will be made soon.
Darlings is pitched as a quirky story about a mother-daughter duo. While Alia plays the daughter, actress Shefali Shah is cast as the mother. Other actors on board are Vijay Varma and Roshan Mathew.
"The film is set in Mumbai against the backdrop of a middle-class family and traces the lives of two women, as they find courage and love in exceptional circumstances. In fact, the movie is gearing up for a release this year itself. The pre-production work is going on full swing, and the team is all ready to take it on floors very soon in Mumbai," a source reveals.
The film, directed by Jasmeet K. Reen, will be officially announced soon.
"An official announcement is expected this week and, according to the source, Darlings will go on the floors as early as the first quarter of 2021," says the source.
This is the second time Alia and Shah Rukh have collaborated. They worked together in Gauri Shinde's 2016 film Dear Zindagi, though as co-star.
