Nitu, what’s the significance behind Chhath Puja?
We all worship and thank Nature because of whom, we survive and what we are today. Chhath Puja is all about thanking nature because our existence as our survival is dependent on them. It's all about keeping our tradition alive.

During the pooja, we worship Lord Sun. Why is that?
We worship Lord Sun because it is the super power from which we get the light, energy and the whole universe revolves around.

Women fast today as today is Chhath Puja…. Right?
Actually, all the women fast 2 days (yesterday and today) for Chhath Puja and that too without water. Today evening, everyone does the Puja and tomorrow in the morning, the devotees finish their Puja and then consume food.

Since when you have been doing Chhath Puja?
This is the ritual of our house my grandmother, great grandmother, aunty and mom have been doing Puja since my childhood. I, in-person, don't do Chhath Puja, because, in our family only married women do the Puja.

Is it possible to do Chhath Puja despite today’s hectic schedules?
I'm always a part of Chhath Puja, no matter what schedule is in those 2 days. Everybody is devoted and working around Chhath Puja in those days supporting the ones who are fasting. Also, we have been making the videos of Chhath from last 6 years. This year, it will mark our seventh edition of Chhath music video, which has been sung by Sunidhi Chauhan.

Do the ladies do the puja alone or in groups?
We do it in group and even men do it, as we are thanking and showing our gratitude towards the nature, universe and sun. If you're from joint family, everyone does it. Hence, in order to pay gratitude, you fast and don't eat anything provided by nature.

Its seen that the concept of Chhath Puja is kind of diminishing in today's 'digital age'. What is it that you want to tell the Gen-Z in order to continue the ritual of Chhath Puja?
Well… it's the only Puja in the world where we worship Nature and I think Gen Z has to understand that worshipping Nature is the most natural thing to do as it has nothing to do with religion caste creed or any kind of superstition. Every human being will only survive when you show that care towards Mother Nature. Also, my brother Nitin Neera Chandra says that the urban people have to take responsibility of the rural people as they wait the whole year to sell their stuffs created from Nature. I feel that today's digital world should know that thanking Nature is the only way to survive.
