Bollywood actors Govinda and Shilpa Shetty have reportedly been accused of defaming Bihar and asked to testify in a court in Pakur, Jharkhand on October 18.
According to a report in <a title="News18" href="http://www.news18.com/news/movies/shilpa-shetty-govinda-directed-to-surrender-before-court-for-defaming-bihar-1302112.html" target="_blank">News18</a>, Govinda and Shilpa Shetty have been accused of defaming Bihar and Uttar Pradesh over the lyrics of the song 'Ek Chumma Tu Mujhko Udhaar De De' from the film 'Chote Sarkar' in 1996.
The lyrics in question read 'Ek chumma tu mujhko udhar de de, badle mein UP Bihar lele (Lend me a kiss, and in return take UP Bihar)'.
A lawyer in Jharkhand had filed the case against Govinda and Shilpa Shetty back in 2000 when it was still part of Bihar.
According to the report, the hearing of the case was scheduled for June 30 this year. However, despite several warnings, the actors didn't show up. Reportedly, an arrest warrant had been issued against them on July 20, but no action was taken. Now, Govinda and Shilpa have been asked to testify in the court in Pakur, Jharkhand on October 18.
A non-bailable warrant was also issued against directors and singers Vimal Kumar, Udit Narayan, Alka Yagnik, Anand Milind and Rani Malik, according to the report.
