Gurmehar Kaur, 20, joined a social media campaign against the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) after clashes at Delhi's Ramjas College last week. She was trolled on social media after she posted, "Pakistan didn't kill my father, war did," on Facebook.
Reportedly, her father, Captain Mandeep Singh, died when a post in Jammu &amp; Kashmir came under attack in 1999. While popular personalities like Randeep Hooda, Virender Sehwag and Babita Phogat slammed her, she received support from the intelligentsia of Delhi University and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal.

Now, mid-day has learnt that producer Guneet Monga has made a short film, titled Shut Up, which focuses on freedom of speech. She wants to inspire the audience to have a voice. It presents a fictionalised account of the raging controversy around Gurmehar.
"It's time we get out there and speak up. Our voices need to be heard, and as filmmakers, it's our responsibility to make relevant cinema," she says.

Directed by Ashutosh Pathak, the story revolves around a man, who participates in a silent protest only to find revolution in the most unlikely place. Shut Up releases online this week and stars Arjun Radhakrishnan and Anuritta Jha.
