Rajkumar Hirani says a 3 Idiots sequel is still in development. Set 15–20 years after the original, it will explore the lives of Rancho, Farhan and Raju as married men with children navigating mid-life crises

Midlife crisis in the lives of 3 Idiots
More than 15 years after ‘3 Idiots’ (2009) became a cultural phenomenon, director Rajkumar Hirani has revealed that he is still developing a potential follow-up centred on the lives of Rancho, played by Aamir Khan, Farhan,played by R Madhavan, and Raju, played by Sharman Joshi, years later. Speaking to THR India, the director said, “I’m still working on that script. There is a lot of work left” and explained that the story is set 15–20 years after the events of the original film. “It’s not about college or anything. They are married and have children now. They are experiencing mid-life crisis, and so we will have to see, now what next?”
