Bajpayee’s father ailing; rushes to Delhi
On Friday, Manoj Bajpayee rushed to New Delhi from Kochi to attend to ailing father, RK Bajpayee. The actor had been shooting for Abhishek Chaubey’s film in Kerala since earlier this month. He has cancelled his shoots and commitments to be with family. His father, 83, has been hospitalised and is critical. Bajpayee’s dad had encouraged him to pursue his passion for acting.
Ayushmann preserves fan letters
Ayushmann Khurrana treasures every hand-written fan letter that he receives. “They make me strive harder as an artiste. It’s an old-world charm that fascinates me. I’m overwhelmed that I receive letters from well-wishers,” says the actor. He adds that he “reads every letter and preserves all of them. Their love inspires me. Some also give me constructive feedback and that helps me understand how they are perceiving my work. These letters bring me immense joy.” In times of emails and WhatsApp messages, Khurrana also prefers writing letters for loved ones to mark special occasions.

Dia welcomes baby home
Dia Mirza’s son, Avyaan, is finally home. The actor and entrepreneur husband Vaibhav Rekhi’s child was born prematurely in May and was in a neonatal hospital in Santa Cruz. On Friday, Mirza shared a monochrome picture with her bundle of joy. She wrote, “Our story has only just begun Avyaan, you have taught us humility, grace, and power of prayer... stay blessed, baby.” She told parents, who are coping with their premies being in NICU, “Love, strength and prayers for you and your little ones.”
Court seeks Salman’s reply
The Bombay High Court has issued a notice to Salman Khan seeking his reply on film critic Kamaal R Khan’s plea to quash a lower court’s interim order restraining him from making any comments on the actor, his movies and companies. Kamaal in his plea said a viewer cannot be prohibited from making comments about a film. He further said the lower court cannot impose a blanket ban and prohibit fair criticism of the superstar’s movies.
Birthday joy
Priyanka Chopra Jonas jetted off to the US from London to make husband Nick Jonas’s birthday special. On Thursday, the singer turned 29. The couple partied in Farmington, Pennsylvania amid vintage car decor. Nick thanked PeeCee for hosting the bash. He wrote, “She surprised me for my birthday. She’s the best.”

On Friday, Abundantia Entertainment, which has backed Vidya Balan-starrers Sherni and Shakuntala Devi (2020), announced a multi-season series on fugitive diamond merchant Nirav Modi based on Pavan C Lall’s Flawed: The Rise and Fall of India’s Diamond Mogul Nirav Modi. The book consists of personal encounters, interviews, and research conducted by the journalist-author. Lall is also a consultant writer for the show, which is in the scripting stage. The cast is yet to be ascertained. Modi was also a subject of the Netflix docuseries, Bad Boy Billionaires: India (2020), which took a look at the life of infamous tycoons in the country.
Farhan, Shibani travel in style
After spending time in Los Angeles and New York, Farhan Akhtar and Shibani Dandekar have winged their way to London. They have been savouring gastronomic experiences wherever they go. In the Big Apple, they visited Priyanka Chopra Jonas’s restaurant, Sona. While in London, they dined at buddy Samyukta Nair’s high-end Chinese restaurant, MiMi Mei Fair. “It is stunning and the food insane,” posted Dandekar. The couple posed for photographs, which were clicked by Akhtar’s production house partner Ritesh Sidhwani. Fans couldn’t help but notice that Akhtar and his ladylove are impressing with their sartorial choices during their travels as well.

Arshad Warsi has been bulking up for his role in an upcoming project. On Friday, the actor flaunted his bulging muscles. “Long way to go, but getting in shape for my next project,” he captioned the post. Ranveer Singh encouraged him by replying, “Come on, get it.” A section of netizens wondered if Warsi’s physical transformation was for the second instalment of the digital series, Asur.
