Making safe space for mental health
Deepika Padukone’s father, Prakash Padukone, has revealed that the actor decided to launch her mental health foundation, The Live, Love, Laugh Foundation, after the death of a close friend. Speaking on ‘The Something Bigger Show with Rodrigo Canelas,’ he said, “We had no objection at all to her going public if it was helping others, because she was in a position where she could help people. She told us, ‘I want to do something in the field of mental health’.” Prakash said the family fully supported her decision, stressing that “mental health is a serious illness” that unfortunately continues to carry
a stigma.
Deepika on Ranveer Singh’s support
During an appearance on ‘Koffee With Karan’, Deepika Padukone had credited husband Ranveer Singh for supporting her through her mental health struggles. She said Ranveer created a “safe space” for her to be vulnerable, and express her feelings without the fear of being judged or dismissed, helping her navigate one of the most difficult periods of her life.
