Actor Kajol is back as lawyer Noyonika Sengupta in the second season of The Trial: Pyaar Kaanoon Dhokha, set to release on JioCinema on September 19. The actor took to social media to announce the show on Wednesday (August 6). This year Kajol has had several releases, including Maa and Sarzameen. “Professionally, it’s been an incredibly enriching year for me. Among the characters I have explored, Noyonika remains especially close to my heart. From being an underdog in the first season to having found her own footing in the cut-throat legal world, I’ve loved stepping back into her shoes.” The show also stars Jisshu Sengupta, Sonali Kulkarni, and Sheeba Chadha among others.

The Raja Saab chooses to wait

Superstar Prabhas’s upcoming Telugu horror comedy, The Raja Saab, may shift from its slated December 5 release to the next Sankranthi window. Speaking to Great Andhra, producer TG Vishwa Prasad said, “There’s a strong proposal to release the film on January 9. Fans want that, so do Telugu business circles.” The team would take a final call on its release soon, he added. Acknowledging a clash with Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar, which will arrive on December 5, Vishwa said, “Its release might be moved too.” Directed by Maruthi, The Raja Saab also stars Sanjay Dutt and Malavika Mohanan.

Sitaare gets a new champion

Days after expressing support for Aamir Khan’s decision to make Sitaare Zameen Par available on YouTube via pay-per-view model, filmmaker Hansal Mehta wrote a long Instagram post praising the film after catching it on the streaming platform. The dramedy features 10 neurodivergent individuals. Hansal said the film hit closer to home, given his son, Pallava Mehta, suffers from Down Syndrome. “Led by the most special people — children of a greater God, the ones with an eight-day week and hearts far bigger than our mortal ones — this film is personal for me.” Hansal also heaped lavish praise on Aamir’s performance, saying that he disagreed with people, who felt the actor “overacted”. “I found him delightfully free, uninhibited, endearing, and completely present (sic).”

Veteran actor Gulshan Grover has opened up about rebuilding his relationship with son Sanjay Grover as he collaborated with him on Heer Express. Speaking to Archana Puran Singh, on her vlog, Gulshan shared why the upcoming film is close to his heart. Sanjay has written the script, and also plays a small role in it. Though Sanjay had a promising career in Hollywood, he eventually came back home. Gulshan explained the reason was deeply personal. “I am divorced from his mother. Any parent would feel, ‘Enough is enough, my son has lived away for so many years, we [he and his son]should live together now’.” Gulshan revealed that they now share a duplex in Mumbai. “He was free to enter my space, but I didn’t have permission to enter his space,” he chuckled.
