Stalled with no return?
Speculation about Kangana Ranaut’s return to two of her biggest hits has taken a new turn. mid-day had reported that the actor would reunite with Aanand L Rai for Tanu Weds Manu 3 after wrapping Queen 2 later this year (Done with politics? August 30). However, Eros International Media Limited has now issued a legal caution notice, asserting that it is the “sole and exclusive owner” of all rights to Tanu Weds Manu films. The notice warned that any unauthorised sequel “shall be treated as infringement” and met with action. Relations between Eros and Rai have reportedly been strained, after the filmmaker criticised the company for using AI to alter the climax of his film Raanjhanaa (2013) in a recent re-release (Re-release, but with a twist, July 12).

Filmmaker and actor Rajat Kapoor recently spoke of his enduring love for every stage of filmmaking during a session at the Jagran Film Festival in Delhi. “Writing is great fun, shooting is a beautiful chaos with 120 people, and editing is a quiet, intimate process. There isn’t a part of filmmaking that I don’t love,” he said. Yet, he admitted that financial constraints continue to hold him back. “Most of my time is spent looking for money to make a film,” he added. His last directorial venture was RK/RKay (2023).
