Serious no more?

Priyadarshan has ruled out making serious films with Akshay Kumar after Haiwaan’s underwhelming theatrical run. The filmmaker believes audiences have come to associate their collaborations with comedy and are reluctant to see the pair tackle weightier subjects. “The failure of Haiwaan, which I accept gracefully, proves again that audiences don’t like us to do serious subjects together,” he told Deccan Chronicle.
