A party in trouble

Karan Johar

After his infamous 2019 viral party video, Karan Johar is again facing the heat for throwing a bash amid the Omicron scare. Seema Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Amrita Arora Ladak and Maheep Kapoor tested positive after making merry at the filmmaker’s Union Park home. On Wednesday, KJo clarified that the “intimate gathering” on December 8 with “eight friends” was not a “party” and that his house was not a “COVID-19 hotspot” as the required protocols were in place. He informed that his family and staff had undertaken the RT-PCR tests and were negative. “I tested twice to be safe. I truly appreciate the grandest efforts of the BMC to ensure the safety of our city. Salute to them,” KJo informed. With the civic authorities sealing his building and Bebo, Seema and Amrita’s premises in Bandra, it will be a while before KJo hosts another intimate bash this festive season. The virus spread has made industry colleagues think twice before getting into party mode.

Plane talk

Dharmendra and Sachin Tendulkar

Dharmendra and Sachin Tendulkar found themselves aboard the same flight and could not resist a click. The veteran actor described the cricket icon to be his “pyara beta” and “desh ka gaurav”. Tendulkar teased Virender Sehwag, who is known as Viru, about meeting the “biggest Veeru”, Dharmendra’s iconic character in Sholay (1975).

Feel the thrill

Anurag Kashyap, Kriti Sanon and Nikhil Dwivedi

The reason behind Anurag Kashyap and Kriti Sanon’s frequent visits to Nikhil Dwivedi’s production office is now known. Kashyap is writing and helming a film featuring the Mimi actor backed by Dwivedi. Though details about the project are still under wraps, the buzz is that it is a remake of Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill (2003). Kashyap is a fanboy of the maverick Hollywood filmmaker. Creating a desi version of his high-octane actioner spells pure joy for Kashyap, who is penning the script the old-fashioned way — by hand and not on the laptop.

Ready to kill

Aparshakti Khurana

Aparshakti Khurana provided a glimpse of his look in Dhokha Round D Corner. The actor has chopped his hair and got rid of his facial fuzz for Kookie V Gulati’s suspense thriller. It is unlike anything he has played before. “Just found this in my photo gallery. Looking forward to Dhokha,” posted the actor. The film, also starring R Madhavan, Darshan Kumaar and Khushali Kumar, hits screens next year.

Everlasting Love And A Lifetime Of Togetherness

Vicky Jain and Ankita Lokhande

After two days of pre-wedding festivities, Ankita Lokhande tied the knot with fiancé Vicky Jain at a suburban hotel on Tuesday. The ceremony was followed by the reception. The red carpet event was cancelled keeping in mind the COVID-19 situation. “Love is patient, but we’re not. Surprise! We’re now officially Mr & Mrs Jain,” the Pavitra Rishta star captioned the photos. Lokhande’s colleagues, including Mrunal Thakur, Rajesh Khattar, Vandana Sajnani, Eijaz Khan and Pavitra Punia were in attendance.

Main hoon Badshah

Badshah

During a conversation with host Amitabh Bachchan on Kaun Banega Crorepati 13, Badshah, whose real name is Aditya Prateek Singh Sisodia, shared the reason behind his stage name. When he turned rapper, he called himself Cool Equal, his e-mail ID. In 1999, he changed it to Badshah to coincide with Abbas-Mustan’s film starring Shah Rukh Khan. As the rapper is a fan of the superstar, he felt the royal touch was just right.

Grandpa’s story

Raj Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor

Ranbir Kapoor is “interested” in making a biopic on grandfather Raj Kapoor. The actor expressed his desire at the launch of Raj Kapoor: The Master At Work, at an event in New Delhi. The book is written by veteran filmmaker Rahul Rawail, who served as an assistant director to the late legend on several films, including Bobby (1973). “Rahul uncle has many stories which he did not include in the memoir. The audience would like to know about them,” Ranbir said. The book is co-authored by Pranika Sharma.
