Word is that Shreya Ghoshal was paid a whopper (a crore!) for her appearance on the small screen. The singer, who has rendered the promotional track of the upcoming show, Zindagi Mere Ghar Aana, starring Esha Kansara and Hasan Zaidi, also features in the music video. Ghoshal and entrepreneur husband Shiladitya Mukhopadhyaya welcomed their son, Devyaan, on May 22. As it was one of her first assignments after motherhood, she preferred to shoot and sing from the confines of her home. The crooner says the television series, produced by writer Zama Habib, about pregnancy and motherhood in difficult times, reminded her of being pregnant during the pandemic.

Sisters at work

Kareena Kapoor Khan and Karisma Kapoor feature together in an ad helmed by Punit Malhotra. There’s never a dull moment when Lolo and Bebo are around. Malhotra described the shoot as “the funniest with the loveliest.” He also realised his dream of teaming up with his favourite actor Kareena again after Gori Tere Pyaar Mein (2013).

The music legacy continues

In 1991, Jatin Pandit (of the Jatin-Lalit duo) scored the music for the chartbuster, Bin tere sanam, in Yaara Dildara. Three decades later, he has written a fresh song with the Bin tere catchphrase for singer-composer son Raahul Jatin’s new single. “Dad and my uncle have given some incredible music. I have just started my journey as a musician. There is a long way to go, and I can never ever think of comparing myself to them. Their landmark work is irreplaceable in today’s times,” says Raahul. Jatin-Lalit’s compositions were chartbusters in several films, including Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar (1992) and Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman (1992). “When I create a song, the melody should affect me emotionally,” says Raahul, who also features in Bin tere’s music video alongside Mexican actor and social media influencer Estefania Martt. “We shot for it in San Juan Capistrano in California. Bin tere is about the innocence of young love,” adds Raahul.

On a mission

Kartik Aaryan will headline Hansal Mehta’s next, Captain India. The action drama is said to be inspired by a rescue operation in a war-torn country. Aaryan plays a pilot in the film produced by Ronnie Screwvala and Harman Baweja, who has also written the script.

Mehta and Baweja have an old connection. In 2002, Mehta had wielded the directorial baton for Yeh Kya Ho Raha Hai? starring Aamir Ali, Samita Bangargi and Payal Rohatgi. The comedy was backed by Harman’s producer father Harry Baweja. Almost two decades later, they are collaborating again.

Living the American dream

After the Sylvester Stallone-starrer Rocky Balboa (2006), now there’s Shiv Shastri Balboa. On Friday, Anupam Kher announced his new film, co-starring Neena Gupta. "It will provide a fascinating tale of survival of an Indian family in a small town in America," said Kher. The veteran actor also informed that Shiv Shastri Balboa will be his 519th film and thanked filmmakers for being “kind and generous” to him. Ajayan Venugopalan, who directed the web series, Metro Park, will helm it.

Surviving challenges

Shilpa Shetty Kundra’s first social media post after husband Raj Kundra’s arrest was about dealing with tough times. She shared a page from a book on her Instagram Story and highlighted author James  Thurber’s quote, which read, “Do not look back in anger, or forward in fear, but around in awareness.” She also shared a passage which stated, “The place we need to be is right here, right now. Not looking anxiously at what has been or what might be, but fully aware of what is.”

It’s my life

Jacqueline Fernandez turned up the heat on Instagram by dropping a series of pictures from her latest photoshoot, accompanied with a message about loving yourself. She is seen posing in a cloakroom wrapped in a towel. The actor wrote, “You... you’re not ugly... society is... live your life now.” Several fans commented by posting multiple hearts and raising hands emoticons in awe of the post. “Damn right,” one user wrote. “The moment we remove context, we find our own process,” posted another.

Hello, Jahaanvir

Rannvijay Singha shared a glimpse of his newborn and wrote that he has been named Jahaanvir. The Splitsvilla 13 host posted a picture with his son and four-year-old daughter Kainaat and captioned it, “Meri Kainaat, mera Jahaan. My universe and my world.” Singha is on paternity leave in London where wife Prianka’s family is based.
