Tumbbad being a period film, it is set against the backdrop of a pre Independence era of Konkan in Maharashtra. To maintain the authenticity, the makers recreated the whole set to match the timeline.
The makers of the film not only recreated a doppelganger set of an old Pune city, they also made sure to provide every detail to make the set cast a vintage spell. Going by the chronology of the movie, vehicles, clothes, and props were arranged and made.
