While Aamir Khan is in Chennai, daughter Ira Khan's pre-wedding rituals have begun. All set to tie the knot with long-time boyfriend Nupur Shikhare in January 2024, Ira has already started with the festivities in the run-up to the big day.
Ira Khan shared some photos from a ceremony recently, which showed her dressed as a Marathi bride-to-be in a red saree and floral jewellery. She wore a red saree with a golden border and paired it with a black halter-neck blouse. She put up a big red bindi on her forehead and kept her makeup minimal. She also wore floral jewellery in pink and white. Ira posted pictures to give followers a view of her traditional hairdo - a bun adorned with a gajra.

A few days ago, Ira had shared glimpses of another pre-wedding festivity with Nupur, which seemed to be her first Kelvan ceremony. In the pictures, Ira seemed to have been invited to Nupur’s house. She dressed in a pink saree and also sported a traditional Maharashtrian nose ring. She had shared a video of herself lovingly feeding Nupur and him doing the same in return. She then recited an ‘ukhane‘, which is a popular Marathi wedding tradition in which the bride and the groom recite a short poem with each other’s name in it.
On Tuesday, she shared photos from her second Kelvan ceremony. Actresses Sanya Malhotra and Rhea Chakraborty dropped heart emojis on the post.

The star kid and Nupur Shikhare got engaged on November 18, 2022, while surrounded by their loved ones in an extremely intimate affair. Ira and Nupur have been in a relationship for a long time, and the news of their engagement sparked widespread attention and love. Wishes poured in from all corners for the lovely couple.
In September, news broke of Ira and Nupur tying the knot on October 3. However, Ira shut it down by posting a Story on Instagram.
In a recent interview with News18, Aamir Khan confirmed that his daughter’s wedding will be held in the new year. The actor confirmed the date and also lauded his future son-in-law, saying, “Ira is getting married on January 3. The boy she has chosen is – waise toh pet name unka naam Popeye hai — he is trainer, he has arms like Popeye but his name is Nupur. He is a lovely boy." The actor is currently in Chennai as his mother is undergoing treatment there.
