Veteran film director Sudhir Mishra will head the jury of the Indian competition section of the eight edition of Jagran Film Festival (JFF), India's BIG Travelling Film Festival this year.
The film extravaganza begins today, and will be held at Delhi's Siri Fort Auditorium, where over 130 movies from across the globe swill be showcased.
Other members of the jury include actress Divya Dutta, choreographer Sunny Joseph from Kerala, film editor Sankalp Meshram from Mumbai and Harmeet Singh of Meet Brothers.
The jury is tasked with the responsibility of looking at 25 films in the Indian competition section and declaring the final result in September.
Rishi Kapoor, along with a starry line-up, including Sridevi, and Venkaiah Naidu, union minister of information and broadcasting, will inaugurate the eighth edition of the Jagran Film Festival (JFF) that kicks off at the Siri Fort auditorium, New Delhi, today.
A retrospective of the veteran actor's films will be screened at the 16 cities the festival travels. The line-up includes Mera Naam Joker (1970), Bobby (1973), Prem Rog (1982), down to his more recent films like Agneepath (2012) and Kapoor &amp; Sons (2016). Kapoor, who is shooting in Mauritius, will be flying in directly for the festival.
The invites-only opening film of the retrospective will be followed by the actor's master-class, hosted by mid-day entertainment editor and film critic Mayank Shekhar. This is the first time a retrospective of Kapoor's works is being held in India.
Some of the prominent sections of the Festival are World Panorama, Indian Showcase, Jagran Shorts, Jagran Discovery, Country Focus and the Retrospective of films.
The 2017 edition of the JFF will traverse from Delhi to the Indian hinterlands of Kanpur, Lucknow, Allahabad, Varanasi, Patna, Dehradun, Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Bhopal, Indore, Hisar, Ludhiana, Meerut, Raipur, and culminate in Mumbai.
The fest ends on July 5.
