On Tuesday morning, reports emerged that Alia Bhatt has joined the sequel of Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD. The reports also claimed that the actress had even shot a few scenes. The news was confused whether she was replacing Deepika Padukone or was roped in for a new role.  

Alia Bhatt to be a part of Kalki 2?

Although the filmmakers have remained mum, a spokesperson from the film’s team has now clarified to Hindustan Times. Several social media pages cited unknown sources claiming that Alia will play a significant role in the sequel to Kalki 2898 AD. While some initially thought she was replacing Deepika as Sumathi (SUM-80), others believed it was a new role. As the news caught steam, excited fans also made comments like, “Alia Bhatt and Sai Pallavi in one movie?? no one talk to me rn.”
