While working on the soundtrack of Sidharth Malhotra and Jacqueline Fernandez's next, A Gentleman, music directors Sachin-Jigar had filmmaker Karan Johar for company.
A source says, "Karan dropped by on Sidharth's request. He brainstormed with Sachin and Jigar on the possibilities of including an eclectic disco number with electro-funk elements. The song, Disco Disco, was created in 15 minutes."

The source adds that besides Johar, directors Krishna DK and Raj Nidimoru, and the lead cast were also present at the session.
"Karan was instrumental in defining the concept of the song. Raj, DK and the star cast fell in love with the tune instantly," says the source, adding that singers Benny Dayal and Shirley Sethia recorded the number later.
