Karan Singh Grover played a pivotal role in the recently released movie 'Fighter' directed by Siddharth Anand. The film also stars Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone, Anil Kapoor and Akshay Oberoi saw the lead actors essay the role of Air Force pilots. Grover has now revealed that he was not motivated to go to work as around the time his daughter with wife Bipasha Basu had to undergo heart surgery.  Last year, the couple shared that Devi was born with two holes in her heart and had to undergo surgery.

Talking to India Today about the time they got to know about Devi's heart condition, Karan said, "(At the) beginning of every schedule, I felt like not going to work because it was very serious and to be away was very difficult. Also, I did not handle it very well. I was like water on the floor. I think it's because of Bipasha that I got the strength to kind of go through that and still be here. I really felt like, for me, death would be easier than going through that.”

He continued, “At one point, I remember when we were at the hospital, and we were supposed to give Devi to the doctors, I just couldn't. I was like, ‘no’. It felt like I didn't have any hands or legs or feet or face. My wife is a lioness, she's a super strong person, but then as soon as she became a mother, she was a freaking God. She is something else. Also, thanks to all the surgeons."

Bipasha Basu and Karan Singh Grover welcomed Devi in November 2022. During a conversation with Neha Dhupia on Instagram Live, Bipasha revealed Devi was born with two holes in her heart and underwent surgery when she was 3 months old.

In a video shared by Bipasha on Instagram, the actress shared she and Karan got to know about the holes in Devi's heart merely three days after her birth. "Our journey has been very different from any normal mother-father, it has been a lot tougher than the smile that I have on my face right now. I would not wish this to happen to any mother. For a new mother, when you get to know that... I got to know on the third day of me having a baby that our baby is born with two holes in her heart. I thought I'll not share this, but I'm sharing this because I feel that there are a lot of mothers, who helped me in this journey, and it was very difficult to find those mothers," Bipasha told.

During the live chat, Bipasha shared that she was ready for the medical emergency but Karan wasn't. "You feel so sad, so burdened and so conflicted, because how can you put a child in open heart surgery? Something natural will happen, and people like us who are believers, we try to manifest it with our thoughts that it will start healing on itself. In the first month, it didn't happen, in the second month, didn't happen. And I remember the third month, when we went for the scan, I pretty much did all the research, met surgeons, had been to hospitals, spoken to doctors, and I was kind of ready, Karan was not ready. I knew that she had to be okay and I knew that she will be okay. And she is okay now. But the tough decision was to get your child operated at the right place and at the right time," the actress added.

Meanwhile, the movie 'Fighter' is currently running in the theatres and Karan is being lauded for his performance.
