While shooting for Brahmastra: Part One—Shiva (2022), actor Lehar Khan’s unfulfilled wish to share screen space with Shah Rukh Khan, who had a cameo in the film, bothered her. Little did she know that her wish would come true in her next project. Fairly new to the industry, the actor has been cast as a warrior in Atlee’s Jawan. “I was directly called for a meeting with Atlee sir. We met briefly, and then, I gave an audition. The moment I was informed of my selection, I screamed, ‘I am going to work with SRK,’” she laughs.

Her first scene with the superstar in the actioner—which also stars Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi—was even better than she had imagined. Lehar says she was taken by Shah Rukh’s ability to make people feel special. “[In the scene], I was holding a lot of props. So, he sweetly held my props before the shot, and fixed my collar as it was looking uneven.” It’s evident that his dedication to work serves as an inspiring lesson to newcomers, as Lehar says, “Shah Rukh sir doesn’t waste a single take, rehearsing until he delivers a flawless act in one go. He was the source of energy for us while shooting the song, Zinda banda. The zeal and charisma he brings on set channelised us all. I remember, in one of the shots, I was watching him and forgetting my steps. Then I reminded myself, ‘Who’s going to watch me? Just look at him.’”
