'O Teri'
U/A: Comedy/ satireDirector: Umesh Bist
Cast: Pulkit Samrat, Bilal Amrohi, Sarah-Jane Dias and Anupam Kher
Rating:

The film is supposedly a satire on scams, politics and media, among other things. But the script or the dialogues don’t show any intelligence that help the film qualify as one. Add to that terrible direction and actors hamming and it ends up becoming an intolerable piece of hmmm….work. This satire only exposes the follies of the people who have made the film.

This is the story of two investigative reporters, PP (Pulkit Samrat) and AIDS (Bilal Amrohi), who never seem to get hold of the right kind of sensational stories. Sarah-Jane Dias plays their boss, Monsoon, and is the head of content at a TV Channel. She is not happy with their work, and they decide to do something worthwhile to impress her. Soon these already-getting-on-our-nerves reporters stumble upon a dead body (no, please let’s not even think of Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron) and a scam. Anupam Kher plays the head of a sports committee.

Even as the two leading stars ham, shout and screech their way through their investigations, you sit through two plus hours where you experience the torturous desire to just ask the duo to shut up. Pulkit, who showed promise in his earlier films, seems to have lost his sunny personality in this one. Debut actor Bilal has a bit of a journey ahead before he can be qualified enough to act. Kher and Manoj Pahwa do a decent job. Vijay Raaz and Mohan Kapoor actually make you want to smile in spite of the rest of the film. And oh yes, we also smiled when it ended.

This film, directed by Umesh Bist and produced by Atul Agnihotri, is not what you should be heading to watch this weekend. Even though I am not very happy to say this, you might as well watch Jai Ho on DVD, if your sole purpose is to ogle at Salman Khan on screen.
