As we are convinced by now, Rohit Shetty gets a personal high from watching expensive cars go up in flames. The story is actually somehow sneaked to fill the gaps between two cars blowing to pieces, smithereens, rubble etc... and if you have the eyes-on-fire hero Bajirao Singham, driving them around and getting thrown out of them in a regular basis, the picture is complete. Then there is an unnaturally chirpy heroine providing the comic relief in this heavy duty relentless Singham chewing exercise. Do you still want to know the story?
Bajirao Singham (Ajay Devgn) is back and this time he takes on a corrupt politician (Zakir Hussain) and a God man (Amole Gupte). In what could be the most clich&eacute;d storyline, Singham has to bust the nexus between the two as they hoard black money wall to wall in a factory in a remote village. (It has to be just a happy co-incidence for Singham that this village is just a rickshaw drive away from his home town!). The kaala paisa is saved for election time to bribe and buy voters. The story line so simplistic that it turns the otherwise supposedly shrewd villains into bumbling idiots with no set plan in hand and they get caught in Singham&rsquo;s claws rather too easily.
But then the absence of a plausible plot is made up with the adrenalin-pumping , fighting against gravity, whistle worthy action sequences, (the one where Singham is thrown against a vehicle was a pure delight). A large part of the credit should go to Ajay Devgn for carrying them out with such ease that even against your common sense, you start believing that only Singham could indulge in such dare devilry. It&rsquo;s a pity that we don&rsquo;t see much of Devgn these days.
Kareena Kapoor Khan plays Avni, who while not minding her salon, is busy eating indiscriminately whatever's available around. Unfortunately for Kareena's talent, she seems to be taking up roles also like that. It is still a joy to see her on screen, like in the scene where she is riding an autorickshaw.
Rohit Shetty's cleverest moment comes when his hero after having witnessed the most expensive SUVs turn to ashes, has a humble, kind of apologetic tiny personal car, thus subtly highlighting his clean conscience. The rest of the film is not so subtle.
Watch it if you are an action junkie or an Ajay Devgn fan.
