As the monster hubby Abhay who comes alive to haunt, recent National award-winner Nawazuddin Siddiqui has comparatively little to do. The film belongs to Bipasha Basu &ndash; the yummy mummy Maya whose tot Nia (Doyel Dhawan) has imaginary conversations with her late father who is coming to take her away.</p>  <p class="caption">   <img alt="Bipasha Basu" src="http://images.mid-day.com/2013/mar/aatma-2013.jpg" style="width: 500px; height: 303px;" /><br />   <strong>Bipasha Basu and Doyel Dhawan in a still from the film</strong></p>  <p>   The title may be Aatma&hellip; feel it around you&hellip; but the thriller horror, like the recent spate of releases in this genre, is barely spinechilling. The plot gets predictable when anyone who starts questioning or coming in the way of the possessed kid gets bumped off &ndash; this includes a classmate and a teacher who strangely sits all alone late night in the school to correct answer sheets. There are many more casualties as the bhoot is beyond the capacity of any living being. In all the mayhem that follows, the police remain a mere spectator muttering that something is going to happen as the death toll keeps rising.</p>  <p>   The find of 2012, Nawazuddin, has the same moustached look as Khan of Kahaani. He flashes in and out occasionally with his menacing laughter or his brashness. He stands out in the custody battle scene showing his flashes of brilliance about being a good father. Bips as the single mom does her bit dealing with a possessed daughter but the melodramatic scenes could have been easily avoided.</p>  <p>   Director Suparn Verma may have thought of a promising premise of tackling an abused relationship in his spooky fest but sadly the script does not take it a notch higher. When the audience is laughing its way through the climax, you know it&rsquo;s a laughter and not a horror fest.u00a0u00a0</p>

The thriller horror is barely spine-chilling. Instead, the film is a laughter fest.
