Music today
There is no particular trend being followed in terms of the genre of songs. It’s all about what kind of films are being made. Even today, if there’s a film on Ghalib or any classical musician, then the songs in it will be classical. But if you are making a Rockstar, the songs will belong to the rock genre.
Plus, now there’s no poetry. There’s more of free verse and expressions. Either there are item numbers or songs with hook lines. Also, music now has a window period. The duration for which a song will work has come down to one or one-and-a-half months, not more than that. Earlier, it was one or two years. So, now they make the maximum noise till they can make it work.
