Veteran actor Nana Patekar passed away on October 9 after suffering a cardiac arrest at his home in Goa. Following his death, his mortal remains were brought to his Pune farmhouse, where he was cremated after 11 PM with full state honours. The actor's son, Malhar Patekar, has now shared the reason behind the final rites being held after sunset. As per Hindu traditions, the cremation is not usually done after sunset.
Why Nana Patekar's funeral was held at night
Malhar Patekar, while speaking to the media, was asked about the cremation being held late at night despite many Bollywood celebrities wanting to attend the funeral. Malhar explained that the family and his mortal remains were in Goa, and thus, considering the long travel, it took them some time to bring the actor's mortal reaims to his farmhouse.
