16 Years of Jab We Met

Shahid Kapoor joined fans in celebrating 16 years of Jab We Met by sharing a Reel which compiled some of the most hilarious scenes from the film. The film, directed by Imtiaz Ali, starred Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor in the lead. It released on October 26, 2007. Jab We Met is one of the most successful in the careers of both the actors and well as the filmmaker, commanding a dedicated fan following of its own.

So, as the film hit the 16-year mark on Thursday, Shahid took to social media to celebrate the special occasion. The Reel he shared opened with one of his dialogues, in the bus scene - "Tum hamesha aise hi bakwaas karti ho ya aaj koi special occasion hai?" Shahid tagged Imtiaz Ali, actor Pavan Malhotra and Kareena in his post on Instagram, and wrote, "Special occasion toh hai 🫶🏻 #16YearsOfJabWeMet"

The love story of Geet and Aditya remains one of the most celebrated romantic comedies to be ever made in Bollywood. During a recent episode of our print and podcast series Sit With Hitlist, Shahid revealed how the film got its name. "Imtiaz was a new director, when he came with the script, and it had 'Geet' written on it. So I said, 'Yeh Geet ka kya matlab hai?' He said, 'Heroine ka naam hai'. So I said, next time when you approach a hero, don't go with a script with the heroine's name on it. So the next time he came to me, it had 'Train' written on it," Shahid broke into laughter as he narrated the incident.
