There has been much anticipation around Vishal Bhardwaj's O'Romeo. The teaser released a few days back added to the buzz. However, the film was recently slapped with a legal notice from the daughter of Hussain Ustara. If the latest reports are to be believed, amid the controversy, the makers have decided to cancel the upcoming trailer launch event of their movie.

O'Romeo trailer launch cancelled

According to a latest report by Pinkvilla, the decision has been taken amid security concerns after allegations by the daughter of Hussain Ustara. She not only sent a legal notice to the makers of O’Romeo but also reportedly demanded a ransom of Rs 2 crore from the film’s team.

For the unversed, just a few days back, a legal notice was sent to the filmmakers by the daughter of Hussain Ustara, Sanober Shaikh. In the notice, she claimed that she believes there is a wrong portrayal of her father in the Vishal Bhardwaj directorial. She also asked for compensation of Rs 2 crores.

“The letter has been addressed to producer Sajid Nadiadwala of Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment and director Vishal Bhardwaj last week. It claims that O'Romeo probably shows Hussain Ustara in a bad light, thereby impacting the family’s reputation. Hence, she has asked for Rs. 2 crores for the same. Along with the monetary demand, Sanober has also reportedly requested the makers to halt or cancel the film’s release until her concerns are addressed to her satisfaction," a report by Bollywood Hungama claimed.

More details are awaited; meanwhile, it must also be noted that the makers have not issued any official statement about the cancellation of the trailer launch event so far.

About O’Romeo

O Romeo is produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and helmed by Vishal Bhardwaj. The film marks Vishal’s reunion with Shahid after over eight years. The two had previously joined forces on films like Kaminey (2009), Haider (2014), and Rangoon (2017).

The teaser of the movie hints that the film is set against the backdrop of unrequited love in a deeply emotional and turbulent narrative about passion, pain and the irreversible consequences of love denied. In the video, Shahid Kapoor is seen flaunting his full-body tattoo and fighting goons as well as firing gunshots. The teaser also introduces the rest of the cast of the movie, Triptii Dimri, Nana Patekar, Avinash Tiwary, Disha Patani, Aruna Irani, Vikrant Massey, and Tamannaah Bhatia. Farida Jalal is also seen in a savage avatar in the teaser.

O’Romeo is expected to hit theatres on February 13, 2025, coinciding with Valentine's Day
